Teaching Yoga to Special Populations

Teaching special populations such as seniors, athletes, overweight
people or pregnant women can be daunting to new and seasoned teachers
alike. This weekend will focus on variations and modifications for
level 1 asanas along with the proper and safe use of props.  Ethics and
the business of yoga will also be topics this weekend.  This weekend
teacher training is part of a larger teacher training program at Golden

Many students who have experienced Linda’s Hips and Hamstrings Workshop have asked for a continuing session…. and here it is!
The flexibility of your hips and legs depends in part on releasing chronic muscle tightness. Through a combination of challenging work, release techniques, and methods to achieve optimal alignment, you will develop flexibility in these key areas, opening the hips and lengthening the hamstrings. We will work deeper into the hip openers and hamstring stretches in this II version of the popular workshop. Some basic level yoga training is helpful, but not necessary. All are welcome.


YOGA CLOSE TO THE EARTH

Seated and prone postures bring our center of gravity close to the earth and have a calming, steadying effect. Explore prone and seated poses, forward bends and twists, and a few standing flows from the ground up.

Modifying Postures for the Overweight or Aged

A teacher training session, designed to help teachers and those who
serve the elderly and overweight. This session is part of a series of
continuing education workshops for yoga teachers at yama studio. It is
designed to help teachers understand the concerns and needs of the
overweight and aged, as it applies to their yoga practice, and give
teachers the tools to make adaptations suitable for these students.
